About Chabad Lubavitch of Japan
Rabbi Mendi and Chana Sudakevitch have run the Chabad House in Tokyo since 2000.
Jewish life in Japan goes back more than a hundred years. Chabad Lubavitch of Japan opened in Tokyo in 2000, founded by Rabbi Mendi Sudakevitch and his wife Chana, emissaries of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement.
Since then the Shabbat table has brought together a remarkable mix of people: Jews living the expat life in Japan, young Israelis travelling the world, and business travellers from Europe, the United States and South America.
Our goals are simple — strengthen local Jewish life, make it possible to keep Jewish tradition in Japan, and build a community that actually feels like one.
Whether you are looking for a warm Shabbat, wondering whether you can find kosher food here, asking about schooling for Jewish children in Tokyo, or just want to meet other Jews — this is your address.
